The Rouch Family in Zambia

March/April 2005

Dear Pastor and Church,

Did Anything Happen After The Revival?

Aren’t you always curious if there is any real difference after a revival or retreat/fellowship meeting? We were so glad to share in our last report about the inspirational time we had at our annual Lighthouse Bible Baptist Outreach of Zambia fellowship meeting. We are excited to tell you this time that all of the pastors in the various provinces have reported wonderful changes in their ministries since returning home. Souls continue to be saved, pastors-in-training continue studying, Sunday School classes are full and children are being saved, ladies are equipped with teaching materials and are starting discipleship lessons, and church members are encouraged. The Lord truly used our time together in February to bless and inspire the ministries here.

Ladies & Children Ministry Blessings

For this report, we would like to share some of the areas Tressa has been working with in our ladies and children’s ministries. As we had hoped, equipping our ladies with study and teaching materials and working with them one by one in discipleship lessons has demonstrated the multiplication example Jesus gave us. Colette Ngoma’s Sunday School class at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Ndola is seeing children saved weekly. Two wives of Bible Institute students were led to the Lord by Margaret Munkanta (pastor’s wife) as a direct result of a ladies meeting in Lubuto when they realized they had never truly accepted Christ as their own Savior. The blessing of Tressa working closely with Beauty Banda through the ABC Discipleship program has resulted in Beauty now teaching two newly saved young ladies herself. In addition, one of the house workers of another missionary family was saved after attending a Saturday ladies meeting and is now working through the discipleship lessons. The Lord continues to confirm to us that one-on-one discipleship after salvation and baptism is the key to building a strong foundation in people’s lives for their Christian walk and ongoing service. Multiplication through discipleship produces the lasting fruit and stability for eternal impact.

"T.I.Z." With A Smile

The saga for finding inner-city church plots continues. City Councils have been on strike nationwide. Solwezi and Livingstone are still the most difficult to obtain confirmation on plots. The plot we thought we purchased in Solwezi turns out to have been sold to three other parties. At the writing of this letter, Tressa and I are in Solwezi still trying to sort out this land issue with Pastor Atrie for Grace Baptist Church. We believe this issue will now be resolved.

"You can make me smile, but I don’t have to like it." Frustration often comes to missionaries due to what we call the "10 X’s Factor" (takes ten times longer to accomplish anything here). We try our best to remember "T.I.Z." – (This Is Zambia) and try to smile.

God bless each of you for your continued prayers and financial support for the souls of Zambia. Please be sure to contact us through e-mail if you would like to schedule us to report to you during furlough. Furlough meetings will start in September, 2005.
