The Rouch Family in Zambia

Oct/Nov/Dec 2005

Dear Pastor, Church Family & Friends,

We trust you all had a wonderful Christmas, and we wish you all a Happy 2006! We were blessed to have all of our children, their spouses and our parents together for the holidays. We are so thankful for our family to be able to share this special time together.

Thank you for your prayers as Taylor successfully completed her first semester of home schooling - with flying colors! She's done a great job of adjusting to the travel schedule and has enjoyed meeting other kids her age. We are excited to share with you that our daughter Rachel is getting married on May 6, 2006 after her semester ends at Atlantic Baptist Bible College. Her fiancé, Bryan Hunt, is a fine young preacher from South Carolina. They will both graduate from Atlantic in December. Our oldest daughter, Becky, and her husband, Steve Slezak, are relocating to the Dallas area where Steve will pursue further education for their ministry. Our son, Jeremy, and his wife, Jamie, are expecting our second grandchild in June, and Jeremy continues his education in physical therapy training, while Jamie will sit for her CPA exam in February. Our granddaughter, Noah is five years old and in kindergarten and loves to spend time with Pawpaw and Grammy!

In Zambia

We are facing some very difficult situations concerning finances. The last of November, we were notified the dollar/kwacha exchange rate was beginning to drop drastically. By the end of December, we have lost just over ¼ of our buying power in Zambia. Unfortunately, this means that one U.S. dollar in November is now only worth 75 cents in December. All reports indicate that it could stay this way indefinitely, and perhaps even further drops are anticipated. Please pray with us concerning this issue, as this decline in the U.S. dollar international exchange rate is likely affecting all mission operations around the globe.

However, all reports from the national pastors in Zambia are positive for the most part, with souls saved, baptisms and everyone excited about their goals of new churches to be started in 2006. Also the five satellite Bible Institutes will begin classes throughout the various provinces in January. We are pleased with the demonstration of their spiritual stability in making wise decisions in the absence of their missionary, and their ongoing communication to report and seek counsel when necessary. We see this as a great move toward autonomous New Testament churches.

Furlough Schedule/DVD Available

We are happy to report that we have given and/or mailed over 80 copies of our DVD report presentation of the ministry in Zambia this past term. At this point, we are filling in the last few open dates of this furlough with new prospective co-laboring churches. We will be mailing a new family photo with the next prayer letter, and encourage all of our supporting churches to request a copy now of the DVD. Please contact us through email at crrouch@aol.com or by cell phone at (417) 350-3382 if you would like to receive the DVD in our next mailing.

Special Prayer Requests

  • U.S. dollar international exchange rate
  • Additional supporting churches
  • Church building projects in Zambia ($5,000 per building)

We appreciate each of you for your faithful prayer and financial support to us and this ministry. May God bless you!
