Lighthouse Bible Baptist Outreach of Zambia

End of Term Province Update Reports

May/June 2005

Copperbelt Province

Pastor Stephen Kunda - Gospel Light Baptist Church, Ndola - “After all these years of teaching, our people have become serious about tithing and we are seeing souls saved, baptized, people added, and more in the discipleship program finishing than ever before!" Our offerings are better than they have ever been!

Pastor Myson Munkanta - New Testament Baptist Church, Lubuto - The people are excited to be able to move away from using the government school on Sunday! The noise from other churches also using the school was unbearable. We were able to help them purchase a small house there and will soon have it gutted out and remodeled for services. There is an addition to the old house that will be used for the pastor and family to live in.

Pastor John Nsange - New Testament Baptist Church, Kasalya - These people have a great vision for other churches to be started and although they are out in the bush, have started two other works in the past 2 years. There are people almost every Sunday standing outside the windows listening in.

Pastor Benwell Chongo - New Testament Baptist Church, Pima - our newest church is growing and Pastor Chongo, a 37 year old single man, is a great leader. They have been able to acquire a piece of land all on their own for a building and until they have their bricks made and ready for construction (next year) the church has planted a maize crop together. The harvest will take care of church needs and will help them in buying cement for their building. Attendance averages about 35.

New Testament Baptist Church, Kawama - presently without a pastor. Struggled for a while, but with the help of regular attention from another missionary couple working with us, is doing very well. Recently baptized 14 on one Sunday and had 64 children in a new ministry they have started! The adults are hungry to learn more of the Word.

Southern Province

Pastor Chilala Cheelo - Victory Bible Baptist Church, Livingstone - church is doing well and souls are being saved regularly, but the pastor does not anticipate much growth until they have title deed to the property and a building started. They too, are in a government school with other churches around them having charismatic “fits”. Reports of regularly seeing 4 to 6 saved on Sat. visitation is encouraging. Pastor Cheelo continues to fight for land. This church has started another work on the other side of the city.

Pastor Bernard Mulyata - Victory Bible Baptist Church, Ntebe Village, Livingstone - This little work is about 4 miles from Livingstone. Within this small village there are about 200 people of which about almost half of the people attend VBBC.

Northwestern Province

Pastor Atrie Kanengezha - Grace Baptist Church, Solwezi - This work is doing very well. The church is growing with people being saved and baptized almost every week. They still meet in a house and have also been promised over and over again approval of land by the council. They are praying for a building to rent while waiting for the land issue to be settled.

Northern Province

Pastor Fernandez Chitondo - Central Baptist Church, Kasama - People being saved almost weekly, running average of 185, church has its land (finally, after one year), foundation and floor of the building, have over 7,000 bricks made(another 7,000 in process) and will be starting to lay bricks for their building around mid July. They have 3 brick layers in the church - what a blessing! This church has two other young works in Kasama.

Bible Baptist Church, Chitambe Village, Kasama - does not have a pastor yet. Have moved to the nearby school and is growing with the help of the people at Central Baptist.

Pastor Fernandez Chitondo - Hillview Baptist Church, Kasama - newest work in Kasama. Considering merging with Central Baptist.

Almost all of these churches have other “preaching points” that are reached during the afternoon on Sundays or during the week to preach the Gospel. Pray for them, that they too will become organized churches.

Prayer Request: On behalf of the Pastors... that the city councils through this country will help in the approval of the land and buildings.
